Psychotherapy
This treatment works by applying appropriate psychological therapeutic methodology to assist the individual in identifying, coping with and solving their problems. Pearson Psychologies use the following approaches when working with patients or clients depending on the needs that are identified. The main approaches used are as follows:
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Psychoanalytic psychotherapy aims to assist the individual to address their issues by looking at the influence of unconscious processes that might be affecting them on personal and social levels in their lives.
Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy The Cognitive Behavioural approach aims to modify unhelpful assumptions or thinking that adversely affects the individual in relation to themselves, situations and others.
Integrative Psychotherapy The integrative method utilises various approaches tailored to meet specific client needs. Pearson Psychologies works with the individual to enable them to work with their emotions, values, assumptions, etc. authentically in order to resolve their issues.
Details: • All one-to-one psychotherapy whether carried out in person, through Skype or over the phone lasts for 50 minutes per session. The sessions occur at the same day and time each week. The number of sessions is dependent upon the complexity of the issues that you wish to work with and the results you wish to achieve. • Psychotherapy carried out via email is based upon the formula of one email equating to one engagement. The individual wishing to use this approach will put their issues into an email which they will then send to Pearson Psychologies (these emails are treated in the strictest confidence in line with BACP and Counselling Society regulations). Pearson Psychologies will then respond to the various points within that email using psychological therapeutic methods, and return it to the email address from which it has been sent. • Before commencing with any form of psychotherapy, your first session will be in the form of an initial consultation. This helps Pearson Psychologies to find out what you hope to gain from therapy. During this session Pearson Psychologies seeks to gain some background information in order to work most affectively with you. This session will also enable you to ask any questions about the service in order for you to feel comfortable and safe and to help you make informed choices about whether and how you wish to proceed. • If at any point you feel that you no longer wish to work with Pearson Psychologies, then you can simply withdraw from the process with our best wishes. Pearson Psychologies always wishes you well.
